in the beginning of this year, as i was praying for my local church and the body of Christ, i saw a picture in my mind of a chess set. as i took the time to pray and ask Him what this picture meant... the word strategy came to mind. webster dictionary defines strategy as:
1: a (1) : the science and art of employing the political, economic, psychological, and military forces of a nation or group of nations to afford the maximum support to adopted policies in peace or war (2) : the science and art of military command exercised to meet the enemy in combat under advantageous conditions b : a variety of or instance of the use of strategy
2: a a careful plan or method : a clever stratagem b : the art of devising or employing plans or stratagems toward a goal
3: an adaptation or complex of adaptations (as of behavior, metabolism, or structure) that serves or appears to serve an important function in achieving evolutionary success
i believe this year God is wanting to position His people, His army, and His Bride in the proper strategic places for 2011. it's in those proper places where we will be able to be used to our fullest potential, and be used to advanced the Kingdom of God in the specific areas of influence that God has given us.
but before we find ourselves in those proper strategic places, we must need to know our own identity in Him and the call He has placed in our lives individually before we can begin to move corporately.
as i was praying, i realized that the church often puts a spotlight on the "preachers, pastors, prophets, evangelists, leaders, etc".the "smaller" people are often forgotten. who are the smaller people? well they are the ones who sign the children into kid's church. or the ones who help clean the toilets before the sunday service begins. or the ones who change diapers at kids church. they are the ones who empty out the trash, usher you into the building, prepare the food for the events, the ones who labor in prayer for you during the service for God's will to be done here in earth as it is in heaven.
they are the ones who don't get applauded. they dont have their faces in the bulletin. people don't often know their names. in the game of chess, they could be considered the pawns or the knights...the ones doing the "smaller" work.
i know deep inside our hearts, everyone longs to be the "king or a queen". but the reality is, not every one is called to be in that position. in fact, most of us are called to be pawns, knights, bishops and rooks.. that's the reality. and because that is the reality, we limit ourselves and God because we feel like we aren't "anointed" enough. yet, what we fail to realize is that the king and the queen cannot make make a move unless the knights and the pawns do their job. it's the pawns and knights that pave the way for the queen to make her move in order for the game to be won.
this just goes to show that we should never compare our giftings with other people. instead we should embrace the call , the gifts, the capabilities, the strengths He's put in our lives and not compare ourselves to others.
if He's called you to be a prayer warrior, you need to pray with all your might... if it's a preacher, preach with all your might...if it's the gift of helps, help with all our might., if it's the gift of love as you sit at the kids church changing some dirty diaper, own that call with all your might.
as we move together as a team and embrace our strengths and weaknesses, we are allowing God to position us into strategic locations and areas of influence so we can live lives to our fullest potential . run your course the best way you can and encourage others to do the same. if we choose to work in unity, He can continue to use all of us to build and advance His Kingdom here on earth.
